FAQ

Answers to the usual questions

Grouped by what you’re probably trying to do.

Getting started

How do I connect with someone?

Open WeJstMet, tap Scan, and point your camera at the other person’s QR code. Their profile — name, photo, role, socials — is saved to your contacts straight away. They can scan yours from My QR to save you back.

Does the other person need the app too?

To save each other as connections, yes — the scan happens inside the app on both sides.

But your QR also works as an ordinary web link. Anyone can open it in a browser and see your card without installing anything, which is handy when you meet someone who hasn’t joined yet.

Is WeJstMet free?

Yes. Creating your profile, scanning codes, building events, saving moments and chatting are all free. There are no ads.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and Android. Your profile, connections and moments are tied to your account, so signing in on a new phone brings everything with you.

Connections & events

What is an “event”, and what does “Elsewhere” mean?

An event is the place you met someone — a conference, a meetup, a wedding. Every event becomes a coloured node on your journey map, grouping everyone you met there.

Elsewhere is the catch-all for casual run-ins that don’t belong to any event — a coffee shop, a flight, a queue. Nobody gets lost just because there was no occasion.

Can I move someone to a different event?

Yes. Open the contact and change the event it’s filed under. You can also create a new event first from the home screen and then move people into it.

What are “moments”?

A moment is a photo and/or a short voice note captured with the person you just met. It stays pinned to that connection and shows up in your gallery, so months later you remember not just the name but the evening.

How do I record my name pronunciation?

Go to your profile, tap edit, and record the pronunciation clip. Anyone who scans your code can play it back — very useful if your name gets mangled a lot.

Can I customise my QR code?

Yes — open My QR and tap edit. You can change the code colour, pick a background, and drop your photo into the middle. You can also share the code as a link.

Account, data & privacy

How do I delete my account and data?

Email jaikushalbysani@gmail.com from the address you sign in with, and we’ll delete your account and all server-side data within 30 days.

You can also delete individual contacts, events, moments and chats yourself inside the app at any time.

Do you sell my data or run ads?

No. There are no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs in the app, we don’t collect your device contacts or location, and we never sell or rent personal data. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Why does the app want camera, microphone and photo access?
  • Camera — to scan QR codes and take photos for moments.
  • Microphone — to record name pronunciations and voice notes.
  • Photos — only when you pick an image for your profile or a moment.

Each one is asked for the first time you use that feature, nothing is captured in the background, and you can revoke any of them in your device settings.

Who can see my profile?

Only people you show your QR code to — sharing is always your action. Photos, voice notes and messages are visible only to the people you explicitly connect or chat with.

I signed in with the wrong Google account

Sign out from your profile screen, then sign back in with the right account. If you’ve already built a profile on the wrong one, email us and we’ll help sort out the two accounts.

Troubleshooting

Try this first

Four fixes that solve most of what people write in about.

1

The scanner won’t open

  1. Check camera permission for WeJstMet in your device settings.
  2. Close any other app that might be holding the camera.
  3. Force-quit WeJstMet and reopen it.
  4. Still stuck? Restart the phone — this clears most camera locks.
2

A QR code won’t scan

  1. Turn up the other phone’s screen brightness.
  2. Hold roughly 15–25 cm away and keep the whole code in frame.
  3. Avoid glare — tilt away from overhead lights.
  4. If their code has a photo in the middle, wait a second for it to focus.
3

Photos or voice notes won’t upload

  1. Check you’re on a working connection — uploads need data.
  2. Reopen the app; queued uploads retry automatically.
  3. Very long voice notes on a weak signal can time out — try a shorter one.
  4. Free up some storage if your phone is nearly full.
4

Messages aren’t arriving

  1. Pull down to refresh the conversation.
  2. Confirm you’re both still connected — the chat needs a saved connection.
  3. Check notifications are enabled for WeJstMet.
  4. Sign out and back in to refresh your session.

Still stuck?

Send us the details — what you tried, what happened, and your device and app version. We’d much rather hear about it than have you delete the app quietly.
